SIKA-FIL filter elements are made from a sintered combination of stainless metallic fibres and a corresponding supporting mesh. Despite the high porosity (up to 90%) of the non-woven metal fibre mesh, pore size range is nevertheless small. The pore size is made to measure from 1 µm to 100 µm. SIKA-FIL is manufactured as flexible strips 0.7 – 1.2 mm thick, which are then worked up as tubes or cartridges for example, smooth or pleated, according to customers' needs. Pore size and position remain virtually unchanged during the sinter process. As a result of their high porosity, SIKA-FIL filter elements have a high dirt retention capacity, in other words long time in service. This ensures an optimal relationship between fine filtering and permeability.

Chemical Resistance and Thermal Stability

As a general rule, the chemical and thermal characteristics of sinter metals are the same as those of the solid materials used. However, the size of the specific surface area should be taken into account when assessing the chemical properties of any high-porosity component (sinter metal). SIKA-FIL is manufactured from stainless steel, 1.4404 (AISI 316 L), FeCrAl (1.4767).
